Enjoy Martin School of Dance’s exclusive Academy Division program focused solely on ballet. This fast-paced ballet program sets our students up for success not only in their technique but in their everyday life skills as well. From learning the basics, to the more advanced steps, we cover it all in detail.
Classical ballet is the foundation from which nearly all dance styles have developed. In this level, students have already learned the basics of ballet and are starting to string more movements together.
Requirements
Two Ballet 1 classes a week
Recital: Theater
Our second level of ballet starts to work on more complex exercises as well as challenging their balance. At this stage, we introduce conditioning to support our dancers in ways that regular class work cannot.
Requirements
Two Ballet 2 classes a week
One Conditioning 1 class a week
Optional
Pre-Pointe 1 class a week
Recital: Theater
Our students in this level learn more complex curriculum and stylized combinations. Pre-Pointe is added to their schedule as an option to prepare each of our students for the rigors of pointe work.
Requirements
Three Ballet 3 classes a week
One Conditioning 3 class a week
One Commercial Division class
Optional
Pointe 1
This specialized class works on all the muscles that need to be strengthened to do pointe safely. We combined barre exercises and conditioning into a fun and educational class while listening to both classical and pop music.
Requirements
Must be in Ballet 2 or Ballet 3
Recital: Non-Recital class
Our primary pointe class introduces students to the basics of pointe. Our dancers learn what types of shoes are best for their kind of foot shape and how to work properly in their shoes to be successful en pointe.
Requirements
Must be in Ballet 3 or 4
Recital: Non-Recital class
Pointe is extremely specialized, and if a student is not strong enough for pointe work it can lead to injury. For this purpose, MSD students are not allowed en pointe before age 10 and must be in good standing within their ballet program at all times for safety purposes.
I can't say enough about how wonderful Miss Tiffany is and what she has done for my daughter! She takes teaching dance very seriously, but at the same time is so supportive and works with each student at their level. She is very caring and willing to help students with their personal struggles as well.
Ms. Tiffany has not only given me a strong foundation in dance, but she taught me mental endurance, something I carry with me both in and out of the dance studio. She enables students to reach their full potential, all the while making it fun. She always has the best interests of her students in mind, and forms a connection with each and every one of them. Her classroom creates an encouraging and healthy environment where students put life aside and fall in love with the strength and discipline dance provides. She believes in me when I don’t believe in myself, one of the best things a teacher can do. I’ve had the pleasure of having Ms. Tiffany as a fantastic teacher, and an even better mentor.
